NWSL Soccer News: Seattle Reign FC midfielder Jessica Fishlock has been voted NWSL Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for the final week of the 2017 season. Fishlock recorded a brace and an assist in Seattle’s 3-2 comeback victory over the Washington Spirit.
After going down 0-2 versus the Spirit led by another stellar rookie-season performance from Mallory Pugh, Fishlock guided the Reign to victory with goals in the 71st and 90th minutes. It’s only the fifth time in league history a club has come back from a two-goal deficit, and the second time in club history they’ve managed the feat.
Fishlock also assisted on the equalizer from Larissa Crummer in the 83rd minute.
Fishlock’s game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation was her seventh goal of the 2017 campaign. She also tallied two assists in 2017 as she claims her second Player of the Week honor, after winning it back during Week 2.
Fishlock has now been named Player of the Week on four occasions and joins a select list of just five players who have received the award that many times. Notably, that list includes her Reign teammates Megan Rapinoe and Naho Kawasumi who have each won it four times as well.
The Seattle Reign also named Fishlock Player of the Match for her performance.
