NWSL Announce Home Opener Schedule for 2017 Season
The 2017 NWSL kickoff is right around the corner as professional women’s soccer prepares to air on national television for the upcoming campaign. The NWSL has released a preview for the 2017 season that includes dates for home openers of each club.
NWSL Soccer News: The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is gearing up for an action packed fifth season that will reach new heights for the growth of the women’s game in the United States.
The NWSL released the schedule of its home openers for the 2017 season on Tuesday as players prepare to report to preseason training camps on Monday, March 13th.
With the announcement of its partnership with A+E Networks, Lifetime will broadcast an NWSL Game of the Week every Saturday to provide fans throughout the United States the opportunity to watch some of the top talent in women’s soccer. Each match will proceed with a 30-minute pregame show.
NWSL Media will oversee the live streaming of all games in high definition on a soon to be announced platform that will also include a re-designed website and new NWSL app on iOS and Android.
The opening day of the NWSL season will feature eight of the league’s 10 clubs taking the pitch. 2016 NWSL Champions Lynn Williams and Samantha Mewis will lead North Carolina Courage (Formerly WNY Flash) in a finals rematch versus the Washington Spirit.
In the debut NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime, the 2016 NWSL Shield winners Portland Thorns FC will welcome the Orlando Pride to Providence Park.
The opening weekend will conclude on Sunday with U.S. international Becky Sauerbrunn, Shea Groom and two-time NWSL champions FC Kansas City hosting a reloaded Boston Breakers side that selected four of the top 10 picks in the 2017 NWSL College Draft.
