Week 2 of the 2017 NWSL season prepares to kick off on Saturday with the Orlando Pride hosting the Washington Spirit in the Match of the Week. Sky Blue FC heads to Jordan Field to take on the Boston Breakers on Sunday in the final matchup of the weekend.

NWSL Soccer News: The second week of the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season kicks off on Saturday with a series of competitive matchups scheduled across the United States.
Chicago Red Stars open the weekend in their first home match of the season as they host FC Kansas City at Toyota Park. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
The hosts are coming off a loss versus the Houston Dash in their opener, while FC Kansas City opened the season with a victory at home against the Boston Breakers. Sydney Leroux scored the opening goal in the 7th minute, and Amy Rodriguez extended FCKC’s lead three minutes into the second half.
Rodriguez was stretchered off minutes after she scored due to an injury to her left knee. It was later announced that she suffered a torn ACL and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Her six career playoff goals, which helped lead FCKC to back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, are the most in NWSL history.

In the Match of the Week, the Washington Spirit head on the road to take on the Orlando Pride. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET at Orlando City Stadium.
Both clubs are searching for their first win of the season after falling in their openers last week.
The match will air nationally on Lifetime.
North Carolina Courage welcomes the Portland Thorns to Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The first match in North Carolina Courage franchise history to be played at Sahlen’s Stadium will host the winners of the 2016 NWSL Shield. Nadia Nadim and Christine Sinclair were the goal scorers for the Thorns in their season opener, while McCall Zerboni scored the lone goal in the Courage’s 1-0 win versus the Spirit.

Seattle Reign FC face off against the Houston Dash at Memorial Stadium in the final Saturday matchup at 10:00 p.m. ET.
Seattle played out a draw versus Sky Blue FC in Week 1, while Houston was led by Kealia Ohai who recorded a goal and an assist versus Chicago. Sophomore Rachel Daly was on the scoring end of Ohai’s assist.

The Boston Breakers host Sky Blue FC at Jordan Field on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET to close out the weekend.
Both clubs are looking for their first wins of the season after the Breakers lost to FCKC and Sky Blue tied to Seattle during the first week of matches.
