NWSL Soccer News: The third week of the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season kicks off on Saturday with a series of competitive matchups scheduled across the United States.
The Portland Thorns host the Chicago Red Stars in the Lifetime Match of the Week at Providence Park on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET.
The Red Stars are coming off their first win of the season versus FC Kansas City in Week 2. Julie Ertz (Johnston) scored the game-winning goal with Sofia Huerta recording the assist.
Portland fell to the 2016 NWSL ChampionsNorth Carolina Courage in its first loss of the season.
The match will air nationally on Lifetime.
The North Carolina Courage welcome the Orlando Pride to Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in the second matchup scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET. on Saturday.
North Carolina remains the only unbeaten team in the league through two weeks, while the Pride have yet to record a win. Orlando played out a 1-1 draw versus the Washington Spirit last week and lost to Portland in Week 1.

Seattle Reign FC heads on the road to take on the Boston Breakers at Jordan Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
Seattle is coming off a dominating 5-1 home victory over Houston. Five players added their names to the scoresheet for the hosts with Jess Fishlock named NWSL Player of the Week for her efforts — one goal and an assist.
The Breakers recorded its first win of the season versus Sky Blue FC during Week 2. Natasha Dowie scored the lone goal of the match for the hosts with Rose Lavelle recording the assist.

The Washington Spirit host the Houston Dash in the final match scheduled for Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
Washington remains winless on the season with one tie and a loss during the first two fixtures. Houston claimed its only three points in a 2-0 victory over Chicago in Week 1.

Sky Blue FC and FC Kansas City will close out the weekend in New Jersey with kickoff at 6:00 p.m. ET.
FCKC is coming off a loss to Chicago in Week 2 after claiming a 2-0 win over Boston during opening weekend. The match will serve as Sky Blue’s 2017 home opener at Yurcak Field as the club searches for its first win.
