Three Teams to Represent Eastern New York in the Presidents Cup
New York Youth Soccer News: Working to be the best – going for gold – can take many different forms. During youth soccer tournament season, the challenge is to beat the competition. Teams from Westchester and Long Island will be working hard to do just that as they represent Eastern New York at the Regional Presidents Cup.
The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) has three youth soccer teams from Eastern New York competing in the Regional Presidents Cup. Regionals will be played over Memorial Day weekend—May 28 to 30—in Reistertown, Maryland. The Regional winners will advance to the National Presidents Cup in Tulsa, Oklahoma from July 14 to 17.
The three local teams going to Maryland are the Bay Shore Lions and Lynbrook/East Rockaway Screaming Eagles, both from the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), and the Westchester United FC, from the Westchester Youth Soccer District (WYSD). For teams to represent Eastern New York in the Presidents Cup, they apply to the state as Eastern New York has a very crowded schedule as it is with well-established competitions and it’s very difficult to find a venue and date for a qualifying weekend that is fair to all our diverse teams while not affecting their league schedule or our two levels of State Cup competitions.
Bay Shore is currently 2-0-1 in LIJSL Boys-Under-14 Division 1 and Lynbrook/East Rockaway is 3-0-0 in the LIJSL Girls-Under-15 Premier Division. Westchester United was 2015 Eastern New York Premier League (ENYPL) champs, finalists in the 2016 City Showcase Tournament and sport a 4-1-0 record in the ENYPL Boys-Under-17 Division this spring.

The Presidents Cup offers an opportunity to play regional competition just like the State Open Cup does and is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Capital United Blue Fusion of the Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) won the Regionals and represented Eastern New York at the Nationals, winning the Girls-Under-17 National Presidents Cup in 2013.
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association: With over 100,000 youth soccer players–both boys and girls–and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 11 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators.
All levels of soccer are offered–from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association.
