NYCFC Submit Expansion Draft Protected Player List
With the MLS Expansion Draft taking place on Tuesday, NYCFC has released its 11-man Protected List for the event. Following a selection from a club’s ‘unprotected’ list, the team will no longer be subjected to another pick from the expansion clubs.
MLS Soccer News: New York City FC has submitted its 11-man Protected List ahead of Tuesday’s MLS Expansion Draft.
In addition to the 11 players listed below, Jack Harrison is also exempt from selection by the two Expansion Teams – Atlanta United and Minnesota United FC.
New goalkeeper Sean Johnson, who was acquired from Atlanta United on Sunday, is on NYCFC’s list which has been submitted to the league, along with RJ Allen, Maxime Chanot, Frederic Brillant, Ronald Matarrita, Mix Diskerud, Andrea Pirlo, Mikey Lopez, Tommy McNamara, Khiry Shelton and David Villa.
The Expansion Draft will take place on Tuesday, starting at 2pm ET.
Atlanta and Minnesota can select a maximum of one unprotected player from each of the 20 teams, selecting five apiece to build up their 2017 rosters.
After a player is selected from a club’s unprotected list, their club is removed from the Expansion Draft process.
