Orange County Surf, Formerly Knowns as West Coast, Brings Pros and Youth Together to Grow the Game
Youth Soccer News: A new name carries on a long tradition of bringing premier soccer opportunities to their players and families. Now known as Orange County Surf – formerly West Coast – is continuing the tradition of bringing pro to help develop youth players.
In the middle of a busy summer, the directors of Orange County Surf were able to work with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur during their SoCal tour for the International Champions Cup.
Often referred to as Tottenham or simply the ‘Spurs’, Tottenham Hotspur FC is a top professional football club in London, England.
Always looking to showcase the world of soccer and provide access to their youth players, OC Surf was proud to work with these internationally recognized coaches from England.
Orange County Surf also has a tremendous relationship with Southern California’s USL team Orange County Soccer Club and together with Tottenham Hotspur, the three organizations hosted over 100 players from Orange County Surf, San Clemente Surf, and Anaheim Surf Soccer Clubs.
“West Coast FC was well known for providing incredible opportunities for our players, and in order to continue that tradition as OC Surf, it was really exciting for our players to interact and learn from one of the best clubs in professional soccer, as well as our local pro team” said Mike Higgins, General Manager of OC Surf.
The OC Surf players were treated to world-class coaching from Tottenham Hotspur academy coaches, enjoyed a Q&A with Tottenham legend Ledley King, and received some Tottenham gear and tickets to the next Orange County SC USL match.
Orange Country SC is the only professional soccer team south of LA and takes great pride in developing homegrown players and providing a local pathway to professional soccer.
“The clinic was a great success,” said Neil Armour, Academy Director for OC Surf.
“We’re constantly trying to bring new and innovative opportunities to our players, and using our connections to bring Tottenham coaching to the players from OC, Anaheim, and San Clemente Surf is another example of that.”
Ever since Tottenham Hotspur FC was formed in 1882, the team and its coaches have been known as leaders in the world of soccer.
Tottenham coaches also worked with top youth soccer players at the Surf College ID Camp just before the Surf Cup Sports’ College Cup.
