#DareToShine FIFA Women’s World Cup Poster
The FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 will take place from 7 June to 7 July and feature 24 teams contesting 52 matches in nine Host Cities including Paris.
Women’s Soccer News: Official Poster for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ was unveiled in Paris to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8th.
Reflecting the desire for the empowerment of girls and women through the beautiful game, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup poster is a work of art on display in central Paris.
According to FIFA, the poster is a creative expression of the tournament’s Official Slogan: Dare to Shine™
My favorite part as described by FIFA:
The artistic rendering of a woman signifies multi-cultural respect for differing races. And, as described by FIFA: “Her hair is slightly windswept in a nod to female empowerment sweeping the globe.”
While FIFA describes the woman’s expression as determined and her gaze ambitious, I prefer resolute and capable.
“This poster is part of the identity of the Women’s World Cup, just like Ettie the mascot,” said a smiling Brigitte Henriques, Vice-President of both the French Football Federation and the Local Organising Committee (LOC). “I’m delighted to announce that the opening match is already sold out! We’ve now sold 600,000 of the 1.3 million tickets that were put on sale.”
“It’s no coincidence that we chose International Women’s Day,” said Ana Brito, Head of FIFA’s Brand Management team. “This poster sums up the spirit of this World Cup and of FIFA. It features a woman with a determined expression and a confident look, who shows a desire to be crowned world champion. The shards of bright yellow light in the poster call to mind the official tournament slogan, ‘Dare to Shine’.”
Who will become the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup champions? We will have to wait to find out but this poster can welcome the international competition and will linger long after the championship is over.
