USL’s Orange County SC Extends Conference Lead With Stoppage Time Win
USL soccer is heating up as the league enters the playoffs in search of the new champion — Here is an update on Orange Country SC’s big win as their regular season comes to a close — this was the 10th time in 2018 that #MyOCSC fans cheered during a home win.
Soccer News: Orange County SC fans enjoyed another great night as their home team beat Seattle Sounders FC 2 in an exciting match ending with a final score of 2-1.
In the playoff race, Orange County SC record-breaking season ends with the team high on top of the USL’s Western Conference table.

Orange County SC vs Seattle Sounders 2 – USL Recap
Orange County SC left it late but maintained the top spot in the Western Conference with a 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday night at Champions Soccer Stadium at OC Great Park.
The home side nearly took the lead in the fourth minute of play when Aodhan Quinn’s corner kick was headed onto the crossbar by OCSC forward Michael Seaton.
Quinn tested S2 goalkeeper Calle Brown a minute later as he cut in on his favored left foot a fired a shot from the right side of the box that didn’t have enough power to trouble the netminder.
Seattle took the lead against the run of play in the 60th minute when Azriel Gonzalez was allowed time and space to shoot from 25 yards out and the midfielder produced a sublime strike that dipped and curled into the top-right corner past OCSC goalkeeper Andre Rawls.
The lead didn’t last long as Orange County equalized two minutes later from a corner kick as Richard Chaplow headed home to mark his 400th career professional appearance with a goal.
The home side had a chance to claim the points three minutes later as Thomas Enevoldsen set up Quinn for a left-footed shot from outside the box that struck the outside of the post.
Quinn made amends in the 94th minute as he gave his side the lead, sending Brown the wrong way from the penalty spot after Giovanni Ramos Godoy was fouled in the box by Ulysse.

Orange County SC forward Michael Seaton had a couple major chances in the first half, with a powerful header ring off the crossbar and narrow miss getting on the end of midfielder Darwin Jones’ low cross.
Jones would have a chance of his own go over the bar in the 12th minute. At the break, Orange County SC held 65% of possession and tallied nine shots to Seattle’s one.
Sounders FC 2 broke through in the 60th minute when S2 midfielder Azriel Gonzalez curled a shot past goalkeeper Andre Rawls from well outside the penalty area.
After announcing his retirement at year’s end and playing in his 400th pro match, Orange County SC midfielder Richard Chaplow scored the crucial goal to level things up.
Off a corner kick, defender Alex Crognale headed it towards the goal and Chaplow deflected it into the back of the net.
On a quick counter attack for Sounders FC 2 later in the half, Rawls came up with a massive save to keep things even. In the 85th minute, Seaton broke in behind the Seattle defense and was pulled down by S2 defender Blake Malone. He was awarded a yellow card. Aodhan Quinn took the free kick from outside the area, but it was deflected by the wall.
With the match in second-half stoppage time, Orange County SC substitute Giovanni Ramos-Godoy was played over the top and was taken down in the penalty area. Quinn then stepped up to the spot and beat goalkeeper Calle Brown to put Orange County up 2-1.
Closing out the 2018 regular season, Orange County SC travels to northern Nevada to face Reno 1868 FC next Saturday, October 13th.
