OCSC Tops Tacoma Defiance At Home
Orange County SC collected three points for the second time in the past week with a convincing win over Tacoma Defiance. Since the opening of the
USL Soccer News: Orange County Soccer Club recorded its second win of the 2019 United Soccer League (USL) Championship season on Wednesday night. The hosts defeated Tacoma Defiance, 4-0, in a midweek matchup at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, California.
It was what the OCSC fans wanted. A Victory.
A second-half surge that included three goals led OCSC to the dominant win. Four goalscorers filled in the scoresheet for the Southern California club.
In the 28th minute, forward Darwin Jones scored the opener for Orange County SC. After receiving a pass from midfielder Aodhan Quinn, Jones shook his defender and hit a strike past Tacoma goalkeeper Jacob Castro.
In the 71st minute, Orange County extended its advantage. Harry Forrester served in a free-kick from the left flank that defender Walker Hume headed back across goal from the penalty spot for the one-time finish by an unmarked Leonardo.
In the 85th minute, the talented Michael Seaton found the back of the net and scored the third goal of the night for OCSC. Substitute forward Vinicius served a low cross from the right flank to an unmarked Seaton for the one-time finish.
Vinicius added his name to the scoresheet in the 89th minute. Following a defensive collapse by Tacoma, Vinicius finished a low shot for the 4-0 lead.
Orange County SC collected three points in its second straight victory that included a shutout.
“Tonight, we wanted to make sure that once again we keep a clean sheet,”
said Braeden Cloutier, OCSC head coach.
“We kept our shape really well and obviously towards the end of the game we started bringing in subs. I think the substitutions came in and did an absolutely fantastic job of closing the game out.”
Orange County SC will head on the road next to face off against OKC Energy FC on Saturday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. PT.
