Soccer News: Want to know what is like to be a professional soccer player? Here is an all-access pass with Orange County SC Behind the Scenes — the new vlog series that grants soccer lovers with a glimpse into the world of being a pro from training to match day.
Being a professional soccer player and coach is not your typical Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 job.
It’s a lifestyle … a state of mind.
Every youth player who laces up their cleats with dreams of being a pro and any soccer fan who has cheered their favorite team to victory knows the hard work that takes place on the pitch on a matchday.
What fans and youth players don’t realize is what really takes place behind the scenes.
DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRO SOCCER TEAM at Orange County SC
To perform at a professional level, it takes dedication, perseverance, passion, teamwork and being a true athlete who eats, sleeps and breathes soccer.
“Behind the Scenes is about giving fans, players and coaches alike a glimpse into our organization and what it takes to excel as a professional soccer player,” said USL Orange County SC Owner & President James Keston.
“We want people to gain awareness of our entire organization’s commitment to develop top talent and feel a sense of pride and connection to our team,” said Keston.
What does this look like? Behind the Scenes lets fans see:
- Players go through match preparation on the training field
- Coaches review strategies and break down video
- Track and analyze players performance and recovery data
- Take part in individual workouts, physical therapy, off-the-field routines, and lifestyle and
- Experience match day from sunrise to sunset.
Few people outside this elite world ever have the chance to go behind the scenes of a professional club.
Now, fans can experience what it means to be a professional player as Orange County SC Behind the Scenes explores a day-in-the-life of one of their favorite OCSC player and fan favorite, players – Michael Seaton.
Seaton stars in the video released this month and gives viewers a rare look at the day-to-day journey of a pro player who gives his all to help his team win.
Seaton was just 17 years old when he made his debut in Major League Soccer for DC United and received his first Jamaica National team call-up. A highly accomplished striker, Seaton has played Portland Timbers as well as several teams in Israel. Now 22 years old, Seaton joined Orange County SC in March and is an exciting playmaker.
Orange County SC General Manager Oliver Wyss said, “Seaton is a powerful center forward who can change any game with his pace and goal scoring qualities.”
“It was a great experience to have gained,” said Seaton. “Even though I’m on camera all the time, this was different. The fact that I was literally facing the camera gave me more leeway to express myself.”
Seaton believes his team is on a mission to become USL Champions and he always wants to get the job done.
Orange County SC fans are encouraged to get to know Seats, as Seaton is known to his friends and teammates.
Including 2 goals and 1 assist in 14 National team appearances and his brace on Saturday, August 11, Seaton has recorded a total of 24 goals and 9 assists in 81 appearances.
Fans who watched on Wednesday as Orange County SC beat Las Vegas Lights FC saw Seaton’s clinical performance. “We went in on a mission to get the job done and bring home three points and we did that,” said Seaton. “My performance was spot on this game, my teammates and coaching staff were behind me, supporting me throughout the entire game and that gave me a lot of confidence to see my team through for the win.”
When asked how he would describe his style of play, Seaton told us it was “being a controlled bully and what I mean by control is that I can also switch it up and do a lot with my feet when it comes down to playing soccer.”

“Our club has become one of the best-kept secrets in soccer in a very short period of time,” said Orange County SC Senior Director of Marketing Austin Hurwitz.
“On the pitch, we have some of the best talents in the league and certainly our region,” says Hurwitz. “Celebrating the wins as well as individual player accolades is key, but I’m particularly excited to show the larger soccer world as well as our local community different dimensions of what it means to cultivate and elevate pro soccer in the OC. The entire club has embraced this approach moving forward, and this series is an important first step but it’s only the beginning.”
