The 2018 Orange County Tournament of Champions
Youth soccer tournaments have changed in the past few years with only a few emerging as top-quality, premier events and the Orange County Tournament of Champions is one of the very best. The largest tournament for younger youth soccer teams ages 2010-2003, the Tournament of Champions is a highly professional and very fun youth soccer event attracting elite, championship-quality teams.
Youth Soccer News: Celebrating its 12th year, the Tournament of Champions is the largest youth soccer tournament for younger age boys and girls (U9-U15) teams. Sold out every year, the Orange County Tournament of Champions hosts over 400 teams from the Southern California area plus Australia, Arizona, Canada, Colorado, Nevada, Northern California among other areas.
The Orange County Tournament of Champions will be held on December 8th and 9th and is now accepting applications. The event will be held at the beautifully maintained fields of the Orange County Great Park and within the city of Irvine, located in the heart of Orange County, California.
Open to all younger age divisions (U9-U15) for boys and girls teams, the 2017 tournament was sold out three weeks prior to the registration deadline.
Tim Woodcock, Technical Director at LA Galaxy Orange County said, “We are excited to enter our 12th year of what is definitely the most massive and best December tournament anywhere in the nation with over 400 teams just in the younger age brackets.”
Tournament of Champions MVP Award
“The Tournament of Champions launched the MVP Award a few years ago, and it is unique. The championship team’s coach awards the MVP to the best player on the finalist’s team. At most tournament award ceremonies, there is one team that is happy and the other team, that came in second, is sad. With the MVP award honoring a player on the team that lost the final, the finalist’s teammates all celebrate with the MVP and everyone goes home happy,” said Woodcock.
“The Tournament of Champions creates a great environment and people keep coming back,” said Woodcock.
How competitive is this tournament? Woodcock said, “This is a very well balanced event and we look forward to hosting over 100 championship teams, which means our event is really the TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS.”
A Tradition Continues:
All players receive a tournament pin and there is no fee for parking — a highly popular bonus for families, especially as the Holiday season approaches.
Who will lift the Tournament of Champions trophy? The winning teams will plus all champions and finalists receive medals.
The opportunity for championship teams to compete against other champions is a great way to ring out the year.
