Kyle and Bélanger Announced as Pride’s Canadian National Team Allocated Players
The Orlando Pride have announced the signing of Canadian internationals Kaylyn Kyle and Josée Belanger for 2016 NWSL season. Both players are a member of the Canadian National Team squad and represented their country last year during the world cup and join the club as the team’s designated Canadian National Team allocated players.
Soccer News from Orlando Pride: In conjunction with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Orlando Pride today announced Kaylyn Kyle and Josée Belanger as the team’s Canadian National Team Allocated Players from the Canadian Soccer Association for their inaugural NWSL 2016 season.
The announcement marks Belanger’s first year as a Canadian National Team Allocated Player.
The placement of the Canada’s allocated individuals was accomplished using the league’s prior placement processes, as that process began prior to the adoption of the new rule. The new Player Allocation Process, which was announced on Jan. 15, 2016, will be in effect moving forward to distribute the rights to any new individuals to clubs in the league.
Belanger was recently acquired by Orlando Pride after spending the past eight years in the Canadian and Swedish leagues, amassing over 30 professional appearances.
After beginning her international career with the Canadian U-19 National Team side, the Canadian forward earned 34 caps and recorded six goals with the senior team – winning a gold medal at the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
