SoCal Surf Records Second Win Versus Ventura County Fusion
Southern California Surf continues to make progress during their inaugural season in the PDL as they edged Ventura County Fusion over the weekend. Nelson Pizarro’s brace led Surf to their second win of the 2017 season as they prepare to host FC Golden State over Memorial Day weekend.
PDL Soccer News: Southern California Surf recorded their second win of the 2017 Premier Development League (PDL) campaign versus Ventura County Fusion in a 3-0 victory at Mesa College’s Merrill Douglas Stadium.
Captain Nelson Pizarro opened the scoring for SoCal Surf in the 25th minute with Sam Palano notching the assist. Minutes later the Fusion would be awarded a penalty kick; however, Surf goalkeeper Adam Allmaras denied Artur Aghasyan from bringing the match level.
Surf added their second goal less than a minute into the second half when Adam Vargas lifted a pass into the box from just outside the area. Defender Andrew Stalboerger slotted the ball past the Fusion goalkeeper to extend the scoreline.
Nelson Pizarro recorded his second goal of the night in the 56th minute from a free kick.
Surf will meet Southwest Division powerhouse FC Golden State Force on Saturday, May 27, at Army and Navy Academy. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
