Ahmed Sheta of Evergreen FC is Named PDL Player of the Week
Ahmed Sheta of Evergreen FC is named PDL Player of the Week after scoring a hat-trick versus Jersey Express at Evergreen Sportsplex in Week 5 of the 2016 PDL season. Sheta scored two free kicks in Evergreen’s rally after conceding two goals in the first 50 minutes of the match.
Soccer News: Evergreen FC midfielder Ahmed “AJ” Sheta has been voted PDL Player of the Week following his hat-trick performance against the Jersey Express during Week 5.
Sheta led his side to a 4-2 victory with a second-half hat trick, blasting in two free kicks, as he helped Evergreen overcome a 2-0 deficit through the game’s first 50 minutes at the Evergreen Sportsplex.
PDL Team of the Week
GK – Paulo Pinto, Dayton Dutch Lions: Pinto made 10 saves en route to helping the Dutch Lions earn their first win of the season – a 1-0 shutout win against a strong Michigan Bucks side at DOC Stadium.
D – Owain Hoskins, OKC Energy U23: Hoskins scored a goal in each of the Energy U23’s 3-0 shutout wins against Mississippi Brilla FC on Friday and Sunday at Traceway Park.
D – Dakota Barnathan, Portland Timbers U-23s: Barnathan was instrumental in helping the Timbers U-23s earn their first win of the regular season on Sunday, keeping many talented Sounders U23 attackers off the score sheet, while scoring the game-winner in the 84th minute.
D – Preston Kilwien, South Florida Surf: Kilwien scored a goal and kept a strong FC Miami City attack in check for a majority of Saturday’s road contest at Tropical Park Soccer Stadium.
M – Ahmed Sheta, Evergreen FC: Sheta scored a hat trick, including two spectacular free kicks, to help Evergreen FC earn its first home win – a 4-2 result – of the regular season.
M – Zachary Zandi, Reading United AC: On the road at Carey Stadium, Zandi scored a double to see Reading United earn its third win of the regular season – a 2-0 result – and remain undefeated.
M – Ryan Dhillon, Victoria Highlanders FC: Dhillon scored two goals against the Kitsap Pumas to lead Highlanders FC to a 4-1 win – the team’s first home win of the season at the University of Victoria.
M – Dominic Marshall, Long Island Rough Riders: Marshall scored the opener and game-winner in the Rough Riders’ 3-2 win against AC Connecticut at St. Anthony’s High School.
F – Nenad Markovic, Midland/Odessa Sockers FC: Markovic helped the Sockers earn their fourth and fifth wins of the PDL regular season by scoring the game-winning goals in both Week 5 matches against Saint Louis FC U-23 on the road at Cooper Stadium.
F – Leonardo da Silva, Tri-Cities Otters: Da Silva scored a hat trick to lead the Otters to their first-ever PDL victory – a 6-0 rout – against West Virginia Chaos at Science Hill Stadium on Saturday.
F – Joey Devivo, Westchester Flames: Devivo scored two goals in the Flames’ 3-0 win against GPS Portland Phoenix at City Park on Saturday.
