Hopefuls Vying for Spot on Team PFL for SuperCopa
Soccer News: The squeak of flat-soled shoes on hardwood was unmistakable as the frenetic pace of the Professional Futsal League’s Player Combine took over the Jostens Center on Friday.
Roughly, 50 of the top futsal players descended upon the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The hopefuls were all vying for a spot on Team PFL alongside Brazilian icon Falcão for Today’s PFL SuperCopa.
PFL Commissioner Keith Tozer and his staff oversaw the ballers who will be cut down after Today’s early morning session.
“The first day of play was very good, very happy with the level of players,” Tozer said. “I am looking forward to (Today) and the SuperCopa game at 5 o’clock.”
The players battled through two sessions of training with a two hour morning session consisting of four 20-minute matches. After lunch, the players returned for another two-hour session of more games.
A select group of players will be awarded their own Kelme brand shoes and UN1TUS custom built Team PFL kits for Saturday’s SuperCopa.
Based upon the intensity and deft skills displayed on Friday, Tozer will have a tough job finalizing the side for the SuperCopa.
“In Frisco, Texas (in March) we said we were going to pick four and we picked six. Here we get to pick 10 and what a great opportunity for them to suit up alongside Falcão,” Tozer said. “The other guys that don’t get picked still have the ability to get into the PFL and that’s what’s so special about the event.”
