Sam Staab is a senior standout from Scripps Ranch High School and Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks. She recently signed her National Letter of Intent to play her college soccer at Clemson University in South Carolina. She is consistently near the top in goals and assists for the highly competitive Open Division of San Diego Girls Soccer. View Open Division stats HERE.
SoccerToday: Do you play club soccer? If so, which club?
Sam Staab: Yes I do play club soccer, I play for Del Mar Sharks for Felicia Kappes.
SoccerToday: Did you give a verbal commitment to Clemson before you signed your NLI?
Sam Staab: Yes I verbally committed in April of my sophomore year to Clemson!
SoccerToday: Who is your favorite professional player?
Sam Staab: My favorite professional player is Alex Morgan.
SoccerToday: What team is your favorite?
Sam Staab: My favorite team is the U.S. Women’s National Team.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite part of high school soccer?
Sam Staab: My favorite part of high school soccer is definitely being able to play with all of my friends from school and its a little more relaxed than the club season so it’s kind of a nice break.
SoccerToday: Favorite post-game treat?
Sam Staab: My favorite post game treat is definitely chocolate milk, on my club team we always get chocolate milk after our games.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite inspirational saying or quote?
Sam Staab: My favorite saying would probably be “believe” as a club team the word used to be stitched on the inside of our jerseys and the saying has been our motto ever since.
SoccerToday: Do you have any superstitions on game day?
Sam Staab: My club team is very superstitious overall from our coach to all of us players, it’s a pretty long list of things that range from where we stand to certain handshakes we have to do before games hahaha it’s quite extensive.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite movie?
Sam Staab: My favorite movie would probably be Remember the Titans.
SoccerToday: What’s your favorite subject in school?
Sam Staab: My favorite subject in school is Politics and Government.
SoccerToday: On your rare soccer-free days, how do you like to relax?
Sam Staab: Living in San Diego I definitely hit the beach on my soccer-free days.
SoccerToday: What’s one word your teammates would use to describe you?
Sam Staab: My teammates would probably describe me as outgoing.
