Take a peek inside the excitement as Torrey Pines heads to Open Division Final
With Dan Busudo heading up the defense, and Asher Booth organizing the offense, Torrey Pines High School head to the CIF Open Division final with a 3-0 win over San Diguito Academy Tuesday night.
The Falcons’ strong defense allowed the offense to dominate possession during Tuesday’s San Diego Open Division semi-final match.
Junior Peter Copp opened scoring in the first half, heading in the game’s first goal off a Falcon corner kick. Junior Greg Matus’s (9) slotted home two goals, and Booth recorded two assists.
Bessudo reacted to his team’s performance: “I think we played an all around great game. Our defense made stops when we needed, and our offense created good chances and executed them. I’m glad we won today and excited for the final vs Cathedral.”
Torrey Pines, the #1 seed in the Open Division, will face #3 seed Cathedral Catholic High School in the finals on Friday night at 7:30pm at Mesa College. Admission is $10, $6 for students & adults over 60.
The Cathedral Catholic Dons earned their spot in the finals with a penalty shootout win over #2 seed Chula Vista High School Tuesday night.
