American Rising Soccer Star Christian Pulisic Extends Dortmund Contract Until 2020
Rising Soccer Star — American professional soccer player Christian Pulisic will remain at Signal Iduna Park until 2020 as BVB announced the extension of his contract on Monday. The 18-year-old is the youngest Dortmund player to have appeared in the UEFA Champions League and currently has three goals on 11 appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team.
Soccer News: Borussia Dortmund have secured the long-term commitment of Christian Pulisic as he extends his contract with BVB until June 30th, 2020.
“I still have a lot to learn,” said Pulisic.
“I feel Dortmund offers the best conditions to do that. I have the chance to play in front of over 80,000 fans,” said Pulisic. We have the best supporters in the world – it does not get any better than that!
The dreams of a youth player growing up in America and playing for a top European clubs area plentiful — the reality is rare . Hersey, PA born Pulisic has been playing a ton — in fact, he has played in 19 of the last 21 matches since September. Without any mention of Liverpool or other big name clubs, Pulisic has signed a long term contract with BVB.
“We are very happy to have secured the long-term commitment of another extraordinarily talented player,” said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc. “Christian already enjoys a high standing within the team and can become a cornerstone of our sporting future.”
The U.S. international has played for BVB since February 2015. He won the German championship with the U17s and U19s in 2015 and 2016. Pulisic has been a member of the first-team since January 2016, writing his name in the history books during the process.
Pulisic is the youngest player ever to have two Bundesliga goals to his name (current total is four) and is the youngest Borussia Dortmund player to have appeared in the UEFA Champions League. He is also the youngest full international for the United States and their youngest-ever goalscorer in a World Cup qualifier. Although he only celebrated his 18th birthday in September, he has already made 11 international appearances, scoring on three occasions.
