Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo Banned For Two Games
After 2-Match Ban, the face of Real Madrid – the famed Ronaldo – will be available for the Atletico Madrid match on February 7th.
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been dealt a two-match ban for during ‘s 2-1 win over Cordoba on last Saturday. While this incredibly popular Portuguese soccer star apologized after the game for his behavior, fans all across the planet wonder why Ronaldo snapped on the field and was sent off. Is he not happy at Real Madrid? Why is the team not performing better on the field? Is it a question on rotation?
Fans wil have to wait until February 7th to see Ballon D’Or winner Ronaldo back on the field after Referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez sent him off after in what some pundits are describing as a fit of frustration. Ronaldo was sanctioned for kicking Cordoba left-back Edimar. The moment was tense on the field with the score was tied 1-1 and Ronaldo had also been seen (according to ESPN) throwing a punch at Jose Angel Crespo. There is wide spread speculation from the Spanish media on whether or not that Ronaldo’s conduct should have been labeled as violent conduct.
La Liga’s disciplinary committee announced today, Wednesday, their decision that a two games was adequate punishment for Ronaldo’s actions. Earlier this week, Barcelona’s forward Neymar was outspoken; urging the Spanish football authorities to ban Ronaldo for his violent actions in the match against Cordoba.
Many young and old soccer fans are disappointed at their idol’s two game suspension. The questions comes up: Why are so many of our sports’ idols acting out on the field when they we want them to be responsible role models for our youth players?
Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti may be counting on Gareth Bale‘s firepower to keep the team on track while Ronaldo sits the next two games out. Bale stepped up and scored the winner goal against Cordoba after Ronaldo was kicked off the field.
