TOPSoccer For Athletes With Disabilities Comes to San Diego
The TOPSoccer program is coming to San Diego with local soccer organizations to be in attendance during the one-day event. Hosted in Presidio, the US Youth Soccer program provides players with disabilities the opportunity to train in a friendly and fun environment alongside buddies.
Youth Soccer: Cal South and Presidio Soccer League will be hosting its 1st Annual Presidio TOPSoccer Festival and Buddy Training on Saturday, June 3, at Westview High School in San Diego. The event is free and will include special appearances by the San Diego SeaLions, San Diego Sockers, Tijuana Xolos and U.S. Men’s National Team legend Landon Donovan.
The day will kick off with a one-hour buddy training course at 8:00 a.m. At the same time, athletes are welcomed to register and the festival will then kick off with a group photo at 10:00 a.m. The festival will include several soccer events, including activity stations, lunch, water games, snow cones, face painting, and medals, to name a few.
US Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer Program, ran in its entirety by volunteers, is open to any player with any disability, and there are no requirements to be met and no player is ever turned away. TOPSoccer Buddies must be at least 12 years old to attend the course.
