12-month Surf Soccer Season 2016/17 Tryouts
The oldest competitive youth soccer club in San Diego, San Diego Surf Soccer Club was established in 1977 to draw the best players from the surrounding areas of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach and Del Mar to form teams to compete against the best teams in southern California. Surf recently announced the tryouts dates for the 2016/2017 season.
Soccer News: The SD Surf Soccer training curriculum focuses on the small-sided games training philosophy. For beginner and younger players, the curriculum teaches early motoric skills, technical sophistication on the ball and early development of soccer awareness. It instills the love and passion for the sport through the methods of guided discovery. It gives players at an early age an opportunity to learn the technique, soccer coordination and movement, the precise and correct way. Players become much better technical and skilled athletes, they acquire much better balance and are less prone to injuries. They turn into thinking players, develop much stronger self-confidence and enjoy the game much more and longer.
The new 2011, 2010 and 2009 Program is run by Surf Jr. Academy Director Mario Mrakovic who carries a National Youth ”A” License. Mrakovic is widely regarded as one of the top developers of youth soccer talent in the country.
“If your children attend, they will dramatically improve their soccer skills,” said Mrakovic.
In the past 10 years, over $25 million in scholarships were awarded to the products of the Surf program. Players receive exposure to world class coaches and seen by over 1,000 college coaches each year.
In February 2015 Manchester City F.C. entered into a unique youth development partnership with Surf to collaborate on coaching training and identify future soccer professionals to train oversees.

Parent Testimonials:
“My child after training with Surf is now ready for the tactical and mental part of the game as the field gets bigger and probably at least 2 years ahead of his peers outside of the club. I couldn’t be happier with his mental and physical development and I know for a fact that he would not have received this type of training at any other club.”
“Mario’s coaching style is to focus on individual skills, footwork and being confident in 1v1 situations. In Surf Youth U6-U8 program he develops players with great dribbling skills and teaches the age appropriate training program. Not many coaches of these age groups spend the time that he does on making young kids composed and comfortable on the ball.”
“The program takes a little different approach to coaching U6-U8 than many coaches who only focus on developing basic soccer skills. Surf SC believes in grounding players physically through agility games/activities. This may seem unorthodox to some when they see a training session, but the players they develop are not only technically sound and superior, but are also agile and physically ready for the next level in the long term.”
