Xolos Academy FC Host Tryouts in Chula Vista
Xolos Academy FC based in Chula Vista will host tryouts this Saturday as the Liga MX club continues to develop the game in the San Diego region just across the border. The Xolos academy teams will play in Cal South’s Presidio League and the San Diego Developmental Academy as the players build direct ties to the Mexican side during their youth development.
Youth Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles continues to be a regional team, always taking part in the community on both sides of the border. That effort to remain the area’s soccer team continues with its youth chapters.
Xolos Academy FC in Chula Vista is looking for future Xoloitzcuintles and is holding tryouts Saturday April 23 at Southwestern College. It will be the third round of tryouts for the 2016 season. Teams are being formed to compete in Cal South’s Presidio League and the San Diego Developmental Academy. Tryouts are from 9:30 a.m. to Noon on the fields behind the tennis courts.
Coaches will be looking to add boys and girls for the Under-8 to Under-19 categories. Those who join Xolos Academy FC could have be part of an organization that is directly tied to a Mexican professional soccer program. Coaches from the academy teach the same or similar ideas used in the senior team in Tijuana for competition and development.
Xolos Academy FC, with affiliates in Oxnard, Calif., Minnesota, Utah, The Carolinas and New Jersey, is the stepping-stone to what could be a bright soccer career. Athletes have the chance to move through the Club Tijuana farm system and eventually having the possibility to be part of our professional teams. The academy has produced players that have moved on to be part of the “fuerzas basicas” farm system in Tijuana, some winning the Mexican national Under-15 title with the Xoloitzcuintles in 2015.
Athletes are encouraged to bring shorts, shinguards, a white shirt, bottled water and a soccer ball to the tryouts.
