SD Sockers Prepare for 2017 MASL Campaign
Fan-Friendly 11-Game Home Slate Features 9 Weekend Dates and the Home Opener Is November 5
With the 2017/18 MASL season starting soon, the San Diego Sockers are preparing for a great arena soccer action. The 14-time indoor/arena champion San Diego Sockers released their 22-game 2017-18 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) schedule today as the club begins their Quest For 15 – looking for the Sockers’ 15th national championship victory.
MASL Soccer News: The San Diego Sockers are gearing up for the 2016/17 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season with their opening match set for October 29th versus Turlock Express at the Valley View Casino Center.
America’s Finest City’s indoor soccer team — the San Diego Sockers — have lifted the National Championship Cup 14 times and are looking for their 15th title this year. Today, the Sockers released their 22-game 2017-18 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) schedule, and the club will begin their “Quest For 15” on the road in El Paso on Thursday, November 2. The team returns to the Valley View Casino
Center for their home opener on Sunday, November 5 vs. Syracuse. San Diego will travel to Ontario on Sunday, October 29, for their only preseason game.
A few days later on Sunday, November 5, the Sockers return to the Valley View Casino Center for their home opener against Syracuse.
The 16-team MASL is comprised of two conferences (Eastern & Western) with two divisions in each. The Sockers will compete in the Pacific Division against the Ontario Fury, Tacoma Stars, and Turlock Express.
San Diego will travel to Ontario on Sunday, October 29, for their only preseason game.
“Last season our fans saw some great matchups and exciting games that fed into one of the most exciting playoff tournaments in recent memory. This schedule could be even better,” said MASL Commissioner Joshua Schaub. “Each team’s games within their division have always been important, but now this balanced schedule puts even more importance on games across the divisions and conferences.”
Nine of the Sockers 11 home matches will be played on weekends, with the other two games on Fridays.
The fan-friendly schedule is enhanced by nine dates with promotional item giveaways. Our two most popular halftime attractions return for the season, which includes the All-Star Celebrity Game on January 21 and the Alumni Game on February 11.
Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers is pleased with the schedule. “Having our home games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday allows our core fans — and those looking for an affordable family night of sports entertainment — to go to the Valley View Casino Center,” said Bowers.
