San Diego Sockers Will Honor Associação Chapecoense de Futebol
The San Diego soccer community will come together on Friday night to honor Associação Chapecoense de Futebol and the lives lost in the tragic plane crash on early Tuesday. The Sockers take on Tacoma Stars following a road win over expansion side El Paso Coyotes this past Saturday.

MASL Soccer News: The San Diego Sockers will honor the lives lost in the tragic plane crash as Associação Chapecoense de Futebol traveled to Medellin, Colombia, for the Copa Sudamerica Final.
Prior to the upcoming Sockers match versus the Tacoma Stars on Friday, the club will hold a moment of silence to honor the 71 lives claimed.
The Sockers currently have two Brazilian born players, although neither had personal connections to the team, players or staff – Ze Roberto and Luan Sales Oliveira.
San Diego’s arena soccer team is coming off a 12-6 win over the El Paso Coyotes as forwards Matt Clare and Max Touloute led the front lines of the MASL Team of the Week.
Touloute tallied 5 goals and 1 assist against the Coyotes, including four goals in the first half. Clare recorded four assists and also chipped in two goals of his own in the victory. Touloute now stands second on the team with 8 goals, while Clare leads the league with 10 assists. Goalkeeper Boris Pardo was also an Honorable Mention for his 11 saves versus El Paso.
Friday will be a night for the San Diego soccer community to come together in order to honor those impacted by the tragic event.
