NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC
Players, parents and coaches gathered at Yurcak Field on Saturday night for the third annual New Jersey Youth Soccer Night with Sky Blue FC. Youth players were provided with on-field access and special pre-game events as Sky Blue played out a 1-1 draw against Heather O’Reilly and FC Kansas City.
Youth Soccer News: The stands were filled with hundreds of players, parents and coaches showing their support at NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC this past Saturday. This was the third annual NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC. Sky Blue FC put up a strong fight and ended their game in a 1-1 draw against FC Kansas City.
NJ Youth Soccer players were invited to participate in special pre-game events with on-field access. The got to take photos with Sky Blue FC players Nikki Stanton, Kim Decesare, Coco Goodson and Sam Kerr who welcomed the players. The kids also got to cheer on the Sky Blue players up close as they exited the locker room for pre-game warm-ups.
At halftime, players from NJYS clubs throughout the state, took part in the “Parade of Champions” which allowed them the chance to represent their teams and be on the pitch. “It was great to come with my team and meet a lot of girls that I didn’t know.” Said Ava Fox, a player on PDA Sounders and member of Club NJYS. “Sky Blue played great and did a great job pressuring FC Kansas City.”
The crowd also got a chance to watch FC Kansas City players Yael Averbuch and Heather O’Reilly, alums of New Jersey’s Olympic Development Program. Averbuch and O’Reilly also stayed after the game to sign autographs and take photos for and with their fans. A handful of young fans, in NJ for the Region I ODP Tournament, came all the way from Vermont to see these stars in action.
NJ Youth Soccer and Sky Blue FC have enjoyed a burgeoning relationship with Sky Blue FC supporting NJYS’ recreation, State Cups, TOPSoccer and ODP events.
Next up for Sky Blue FC is the team’s 2016 Pride Night next Sunday evening when it hosts Seattle Reign FC for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Yurcak Field.
