“The Impossible Champion” on the Argentina World Cup in ’86 Airs This Sunday on beIN SPORTS
Argentina’s run at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico can still be remembered by veteran soccer fans that were graced with the opportunity to watch Diego Maradona succeed on the worlds biggest stage. Many soccer aficionados believe this was a defining moment for Maradona — who is considered by many as the world’s greatest football player. Maradona raised the bar on what one man could do on the soccer field.
BEIN SPORTS will provide fans a chance to relive the moment on October 2nd during its premiere of” The Impossible Champion” – a documentary on Maradona’s infamous run in ’86.
Soccer News: beIN SPORTS, the fastest growing cable network in the U.S., presents the broadcast television premiere of IMS Internet Media Services, with a original idea of its CEO, Gaston Taratuta in partnership with Margarita Wais’ feature documentary, “The Impossible Champion” (El Campeón Imposible), an inspiring account of Argentina’s 1986 World Cup victory, and two of the most talked about goals of the competition’s history, both scored by Diego Maradona.
“The Impossible Champion” will premiere on Sunday, October 2nd at 9pm ET / 6pm PT, on beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español.

Sam Blair is a documentary filmmaker and graduate of the UK’s National Film and Television School. His debut feature “Personal Best,” a portrayal of young British sprinters, was backed by the British Film Institute, received a nationwide cinema release and was longlisted for the British Film Awards.

The documentary delivers an in-depth look into the influence of Maradona’s performance on Argentina and the country’s soccer culture, as it tells the story of how Argentina’s national soccer team achieved the most unlikely World Cup win 30 years ago in Mexico.
Ever heard of the Hand of God?
The film features exclusive interviews and testimonials with some of the most prominent soccer players and figures from that era, including Diego Maradona, as well as Ali Bennaceur, the referee that validated Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God” goal against England.
Additional commentary is provided by Carlos Bilardo, Coach of the 1986 Argentina team; Peter Shilton, England’s 1986 goalkeeper; and sports commentators Victor Hugo Morales and Martin Tylber, among others.
