adidas Presents Dragon Pack For Champions League Knockout Stages
The latest adidas boot and ball collection takes the pitch as the German brand honors UEFA Champions League final host, Wales. The “Dragon Pack” includes both the ACE and X boot models as well as the official ball for knockout rounds of the European tournament that saw its first action this week.
Soccer News: adidas presented the official match ball earlier this week to be used during the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds and the June 3rd final in Cardiff.
Celebrating the nation of Wales, which will host this year’s final, the ball’s design consists of a striking dragon print inspired by the national emblem on the Welsh flag.
The inspiration drew from the strength the dragon represents in Celtic mythology, which represents the ferocity of play meant to be on display during the final stages of competition.
The design also inspired a new limited edition boot collection known as the Dragon Pack. The latest boot drop features the same design elements, combined with the usual technical innovations.
The Dragon Pack includes both the ACE and X models, which are adapted for on-pitch and cage silos.
The Dragon Pack ACE17+ PURECONTROL features the dragon design developed with a black boot colorway. Designed for flexibility and control, a 360 degree fully PRIMEKNIT upper ensures zero wear-in time and is protected by an ultra-thin NON STOP GRIP (NSG) film as well as adidas’ innovative BOOST technology.
The collection also includes the ACE 17+ PURECONTROL cage version, featuring a PRIMEKNIT upper with a layer of NSG film and a stretchable layer of TECHFIT material for maximum comfort. The cage version also includes a black EVA strip above the heel’s BOOST to offer stability.
The X16 also features the dragon design in a striking white colorway. The boot features a coating of NON STOP GRIP (NSG) film as well as a SPRINTFRAME outsole offering stability during changes of direction. A PURECUT SOCK SYSTEM sees laces hidden under an upper layer for a pure first touch.
The X16 cage version, which includes the same NSG, SPRINT FRAME and PURECUT SOCK SYSTEM as the stadium boot, includes a gum finish on the outside to provide extra protection on any surface.
