Nike Reveal Limited Edition EA Sports Mercurial Superfly

numbNike has revealed its latest Mercurial Superfly in partnership with the launch of FIFA 17 by EA SPORTS. The boot highlights the progression from the 16-bit to today’s high definition graphics in a limited edition version that will be available for purchase on September 26th.
Soccer News: In conjunction with the latest launch of FIFA 17 by EA SPORTS, Nike has collaborated on a limited edition Mercurial Superfly that highlights the progression from the 16-bit graphics of ‘94 to today’s high definition output.
In 1994, EA SPORTS’ soccer video game transformed the way players connect with over 3 million people around the world now playing per day. With the game and its graphics having evolved over the years, its popularity has reached across the globe where all players can compete.
“This collaboration came together rather organically,” says Nathan Van Hook, Senior Design Director for Nike Football. “Our design team spends a lot of our free time playing football – both on the pitch and via video game – we’re pretty obsessed with both. We wanted to create something memorable that brings together the physical and virtual worlds.”
The inner side of the boot consists of a pixelated 16-bit graphic that transitions to high-definition on the outer side. The EA SPORTS logo appears on the sockliner, lace and heel. Nike also designed a special Mercurial logo for the boot and its accompanying shoebox and bag.
With only 1,500 pairs made, each boot is individually numbered on the heel. Just look at the vertical numbering!
In FIFA 17, the boot will become available on September 22nd in the EA SPORTS Football Club Catalog (unlocked at level 7).
The limited edition Mercurial x EA SPORTS boots will be available for purchase on September 26th on Nike’s website and the Nike Football App.
