Soccer Referee Certification Course Coming to Brooklyn
New York Youth Soccer News: The Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League is looking to attract new referees to work their games
There are many benefits to being a soccer referee including getting cardiovascular exercise, meeting new people, learning management skills and earning extra money.
The Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), the oldest youth soccer league in not just the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) but in the entire United States, is teaming up with the New York Referees Association (NYRA) to offer a Grade 8 Referee Certification Course in Brooklyn.
The fee is $200, which consists of a $165 course fee and a $35 administrative fee. The check should be paid to the CJSL and sent to Dimitrie Draguca, 75-15 Furmanville Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.
At the completion and passing of the course, the CJSL will reimburse the candidate 50% of the course fee. After the candidate is assigned and referees a total of 10 CJSL matches, the CJSL will reimburse the candidate the remaining 50% for a total of $165. Please note any candidate who fails the certification test will have the option to retake the course, free of charge.
This fee includes US Soccer referee membership for one year and a referee kit of two shirts, shorts, socks, whistle, cards, flags, coin and bag so it’s a wonderful value.
The Grade 8 course will take place at Sporting Club Gjoa, 850 62nd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220 from 7:30 to 10:30 pm on the nights of December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20.
The course is open to all CJSL members and players aged 16 and above. There is a limited number of 20 spots available, so don’t delay, register today.
