Escoto Scores Hat Trick – Chiles & Farber Score Two Goals Each as San Diego’s 14 Time Champions Defeat Rival Tacoma
San Diego Soccer News: America’s Finest City’s professional soccer team keeps winning and remain undefeated at 10-0.
The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers improved to a tenth straight victory tonight as they defeated Tacoma 8-3. The largest crowd of the season of — 3,395 screaming soccer fans — celebrated as the Sockers remained undefeated.
Goalkeeper Chris Toth was in goal tonight and earned his fifth victory protecting the goal for his team. Brian Farber opened the scoring with a majestic goal, thrilling fans of all ages.

“The match was a great team effort, on the offensive end we shared the ball really well and looked for the extra pass around the goal,” said Farber. “On defense, we got behind the ball and helped each other but it helps to have Chris in goal, he doesn’t get enough go credit at times.”
“Not to sound cliche, but we are taking it one game at a time, we cannot afford to let a game slip, especially a home game.”
“We are once again establishing a home-field advantage and had another great crowd and now we are focusing on next weeks three-game schedule,” added Farber.
“It was a great team effort by the boys,” said Sockers’ Captian Kraig Chiles. “We are taking this season one shift, one quarter, and one game at a time. The goal is the championship in March.”

Brandon Escoto notched his first hat trick of the year to pace the Sockers offense. He added an assist to tally four points on the evening. Brian Farber and Kraig Chiles each scored twice, while rookie forward Andy Lorei tallied his first career MASL goal in the second quarter.
The first half was a smashing success as San Diego led 6-0 — As coach Phil Salvagio greeted fans, he said, “This was probably the best first half of the season.”
Although San Diego clearly dominated, Tacoma struck back in the beginning of the second half and scored two goals, the remaining goal was scored later in the 4th quarter.
Third generation goalkeeper Chris Toth made six saves on nine shots to earn his fifth win of the season.
Next week will get tougher for the team as the Sockers will have an unbelievable schedule with three matches in fours days against quality opponents Ontario, Sonora and Ontario again.
The Sockers play on Thursday, January 18, 7:05 p.m., in Ontario to face the Fury. San Diego’s next home game will be on Sunday, January 21, 5:05 versus Ontario.
