Three-Time Champions Stanford Lead Final NCAA DI Men’s Rankings
Stanford University Mens Soccer – euphorically, emotionally – clinch their third NCAA DI championship this week.
Soccer News: United Soccer Coaches released the final regional and national rankings on Tuesday for NCAA Division I men’s soccer, led by Stanford University (19-2-2) after capturing their third consecutive national championship on Sunday.
Led by head coach Jeremy Gunn and MAC Hermann Trophy finalist Tomas Hilliard-Arce, Stanford joined the University of Virginia (1991-1994) as the only teams in NCAA Division I men’s soccer history to win three straight titles with a double overtime victory over No. 2-ranked Indiana in the College Cup final at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Penn.
Stanford, who were ranked No. 1 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches pre-season poll, also becomes the first school to win NCAA Division I championships in both men’s and women’s soccer in the same year.
