Soccer News: Series Offers Elite Players Increased Identification & College Scouting Opportunities
The Super Y League announced the next evolution of its elite player identification program, resulting in the formation of the Regional Scouting Series. Designed to ensure the Super Y League’s most talented players have the opportunity to perform in front of top college coaches, the Regional Scouting Series is presented by TopDrawerSoccer, Rene Meulensteen Academy, Positive Coaching Alliance and ACES Nation.
Super Y League players ages U10-U16 who excel during the regular season will be invited to participate at one of three Regional Scouting Series events August 14-16. Attending players ages U13-U16 will have the opportunity to train and interact with top coaches from throughout their regions and take part in a TopDrawerSoccer College Combine.
Players aged U10-U12 will showcase their abilities during competitive matches and take part in the Meulensteen Method, which is used by former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen. His training program has been implemented to develop world-class players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and more at clubs worldwide.
Hosted at centrally located sites throughout the country, the events will feature coaches from all divisions of the NCAA and NAIA, and will expose the invited players and their parents to specialized training in diet, nutrition, college recruiting, mental conditioning and more.
“We are proud to announce our new elite player programming with the Super Y League Regional Scouting Series. This is an exciting new venture that will provide a unique player scouting and identification platform to the league’s top performers in centralized and convenient locations.” USL Director of U20 and Youth League Development Gordon Bengtson said. “Our reinvented model will also deliver educational programming for players and parents off the field which supports the Super Y League’s holistic approach to player development.
“The Super Y League Regional Scouting Series events are a groundbreaking and comprehensive series that will pioneer the way forward in both player identification and player development.”
Those players who excel at the Regional Scouting Series events or during the North American Finals will be brought in to the Super Y League’s national pool. From there, selected players will have the opportunity to take part in the USL Experience. The USL Experience will provide an unprecedented look into professional American soccer and is designed for the nation’s elite players who dream of advancing through the professional player pathway.
