Surf Cup Sports Invests in Affiliate Programs for 2017
Surf Cup Sports announces two new partner clubs and a new Director of Business Development. With more than 10,000 players wearing the Surf SC jersey, affiliates include Murrieta, San Clemente, Anaheim, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Hawaii, Greater Seattle, PSPL Surf Academy (Seattle), San Jose, New York and Utah.
Youth Soccer News: Surf Cup Sports announced today the hiring of a new Director of Business Development and the addition of two new affiliates in the organization’s home state – San Gabriel Valley Surf and San Jose Surf. This brings the total number of Surf Soccer affiliates to eleven across five states.
Director of Business Development Chris Adams joins the Surf team after spending the past six years at the brand’s key retail partner, Soccer.com. During his career with the retail company, Adams held the position of National Accounts Manager, where he worked with the largest youth clubs in the U.S. and several professional U.S. academies. Chris will oversee the growth of the affiliate program, both in terms of number of affiliated clubs and the program offerings itself.
“I’m excited to join the Surf team and to promote the Surf affiliate program,” said Adams. “This program is unique among youth clubs in that there is no charge to join. Surf’s philosophy is long term in scope – we want to build a nationwide network of strong and vibrant clubs, and we think we get there by investing in our partners.”
The director of SGV Surf will be Matt Bradbury, a Cal State Fullerton alumnus who helped carry his college squad to the NCAA Final Four. SGV Surf will operate around its surrounding areas and expect to field 25-35 teams for the upcoming season.
“Having witnessed the growth and development of San Diego Surf, from its humble beginnings as San Dieguito Surf in the 1970’s, is incredible, and truly what we want to be a part of,” said Bradbury.
“We are excited to join the Surf network and take advantage of all the benefits that are provided. We are extremely proud and excited for the opportunity granted to us and are ready to forge ahead and bring great things to our families.”
Leading the charge for San Jose Surf is longtime Bay Area coach Jeff Jenkins. He has long been serving as a coach, director, and mentor for Bay Area youth in underserved communities.
“I’m excited to work with Surf to expand the reach of youth soccer to some of the underserved communities in Northern California, where the cost of youth sports can often present a barrier to participation,” said Jenkins.
“I look forward to bringing a high-quality solution for growth and development to many new players. As youth soccer continues to grow in popularity, we have the opportunity to bring new solutions to the market, and ultimately build Northern California.”
The Surf affiliate program was started in 2012 and has since grown to eleven affiliated clubs.
Surf affiliates benefit from the program in many ways including free club registration software, coaching curriculum and training from Manchester City FC, tournament and admin support, benefits of relationships with sponsors and partners, the Surf Select program in which talented players from each affiliate come together to play for a San Diego Surf coach, and much more. Surf affiliates grown at an average annual rate of twenty percent.
