L.A. Wolves Dismantle C.F. Cachorros
The L.A. Wolves put on a commanding performance against C.F. Cachorros over the weekend as the UPSL club continues their 2016 run with convincing win at home. The Wolves are preparing for the second qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup scheduled for October 23rd versus Inland Empire FC.
UPSL Soccer News: The L.A. Wolves FC put on a dominant attacking performance that helped edge C.F. Cachorros 6-1 over the weekend. The L.A. Wolves held possession from the start of the first half through midfielders Sori Keita and Duncan Capriotti.
Paolo Cardozo chipped the Cachorros goalie to open up scoring for the Wolves after receiving a ball from Miguel Sanchez. The Wolves grabbed their second goal of the match off a masterful buildup play from the left flank to right across C.F. Cachorros goal. Kevin Garcia’s strike from a tight angle gave the Wolves a 2-0 lead.
C.F. Cachorros were able to pull one back when a quick counterattack caught the Wolves off guard to bring the match within one goal in a 2-1 favor of L.A. The Wolves’ possession game would go on to prove profitable when right back Andrew Johnson struck a stunning left footed shot to give L.A. the 3-1 lead.
L.A. Wolves center back Daniel Hubert held a strong back line on the night, completely dominating every aerial battle that came in his direction.
In the second half, the Wolves came out flying looking to continue their dominant performance. Luis Mora would extend the Wolves’ lead when he dribbled around the Cachorros goalie to bring the scoreline to 4-1.
Despite dropping to 10 men in the final 25 minutes when Miguel Sanchez was sent off for a body check, the L.A. Wolves kept their composure in order to not concede a second goal The Wolves scored their fifth goal off a set piece after Gonzalo Salguero bent in a wonderful cross that met Keita, which he headed home with confidence. Substitutes Joseph “Tarzan” Fernandez and Chris Lopez put the game out of Cachorros’ reach with Wolves’ sizth goal of the match.
Controversy then struck as C.F. Cachorros attempted to make a substitution, which was identified by the linesmen but not the center referee. The referee would go on to send off the C.F. Cachorros coach and a player before calling the match five minutes early.
