Orozco Named to USMNT Roster Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
31-year-old Michael Orozco has been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team roster ahead of two FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for the end of the month. The Tijuana Xolos defender joins the United States for another national team camp ahead of a crucial series of matches.
Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles defender Michael Orozco has been named to the United States national team roster ahead of the upcoming FIFA 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers set for next week.
The 31-year-old was named by head coach Bruce Arena for the CONCACAF World Cup hexagonal round of qualifiers against Honduras and Panama this month.
Orozco has notched 29 caps and four goals with the USMNT. He has been called to a camp every year since 2011, with his first call up in 2008. Orozco’s scored his first national team official goal in 2012 during the United States’ first ever win against Mexico at Estadio Azteca. A native of Orange, California, Orozoco scored in a World Cup qualifier match versus Panama in 2013, which saw the U.S. win 3-2.
The Club Tijuana defender has played in 39 matches with the Xoloitzcuintles, 38 of those as a starter. He’s started in seven games during the current 2017 Clausura.
The United States take on Honduras on March 24th at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif. and visits Panama on March 28th at Estadio Rommel Fernandez. The United States is in last place in the final round of qualifying with a 0-2 record and zero points in the six-team group.
