Total Futbol Academy Dominates 2013 Coast Soccer League Championships
Every year the Coast Soccer League (CSL) presents the CSL League Cup at the end of the regular season. Teams from throughout the league compete for the right to be crowned champion at their age level. Teams are seeded against each other based on their mid-season standings, and the tournament consists of a preliminary round followed by knockout rounds. This year the finals were dominated by teams from Total Futbol Academy (TFA).
In the championship matches, played over the December 7-8 weekend, TFA teams took the cup at four levels – an amazing accomplishment. The TFA Region I BU9 Academy, BU10 Academy, BU11 Academy and BU12 Academy A teams all hoisted their respective trophies following intense competition. In addition, the BU12 Academy B team reached the finals against their club mates, meaning that all five Academy teams reached their title matches.
To top it all off, two TFA clubs made deep runs into the tournament. The Region IV BU9 team (Orange County) reached the semifinals at their age group, where they lost to the champion BU9 Academy team. At the U12 level, the Region III BU12 team (Pomona/Inland Empire) also reached the semifinals where they lost to the BU12 Academy B side. Both teams showed great skill and poise in their runs and are preparing for their next challenges.
“Most Clubs dream of winning one championship, let alone four in consecutive age brackets,” said Total Futbol Academy President Paul Walker. “The results speak for themselves and are a clear indicator of how special this Academy program is as well as our unique player development program.”
Congratulations to Total Futbol Academy for the great success of their teams and good luck as they prepare for Cal South State Cup and National Cup competitions.
