The 2014 Orange County Tournament of Champions
Celebrating its 8th year, the Tournament of Champions youth soccer tournament offers the opportunity for championship teams to compete against other champions. Held in December on beautiful Southern California fields, the Tournament of Champions is a great way to close out the year.
The Orange County Tournament of Champions will be held on December 13th and 14th in Irvine, California and is now accepting applications.
Tim Woodcock, Technical Director at Irvine Slammers FC said, “We are excited to enter our 8th year of what is definitely the biggest and best December tournament anywhere in the USA. Our tournament is the premier end of season event and we are hoping to play host to over 300 competitive youth soccer teams this year.”
How competitive is this tournament? Woodcock said, “We look forward to hosting potentially 100 league champions at different levels, which means our event really is really the TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS.”
Always a great way to close out the year, this youth soccer tournament is held in beautiful Southern California and offers a great weekend for soccer loving families. “We pride ourselves on creating balanced brackets and competitive play for all levels of teams and we want to have three levels in nearly all age groups.” said Woodcock.
This youth tournament is for U8 through U14s. With the unique opportunity to receive a special refund of $150 if you are a 2014 Fall League Champion or a 2013 State or National Cup Winner, the Tournament of Champions is all about the action on the field and not the commercial side of soccer.
Creating a highly competitive atmosphere where championship teams play other champions, the Tournament of Champions offers refunds to those teams who are still engaged league play and do not win the title of champions until after tournament fees are paid. With three games guaranteed for all teams and four games for finalists, this soccer event is an exciting way to end 2014.
Last year over 70 league champions participated and teams came from all over Southern California and Nevada to compete.
Sold out in 2013 two weeks prior to the close of registration, the Tournament of Champions is a highly popular youth soccer tournament. This year’s registration deadline is November 10th. Winners receive championship T shirts plus trophies and medals. There are even MVP Awards for the finalists.
