NPSL Spotlight On Player of the Week: Albion SC PROS’ Travis Nicklaw
Albion SC PROS are looking to get back on track during week five as the San Diego club is coming off their second win during the 2017 NPSL campaign. SoccerToday spoke with NPSL Player of the Week Travis Nicklaw who led the PROS to a win last week in our first highlight interview of the award’s recipients.

NPSL Soccer News: Albion SC PROS forward Travis Nicklaw is coming off a stellar performance during week four of the 2017 NPSL Season, which saw him receive Mitre National Player of the Week honors.
The San Diego native recorded one goal and one assist in Albion’s 3-1 victory over Corinthians USA.
SoccerToday spoke with Nicklaw on his first season with the PROS and his plans for the future as he continues to develop his game.
Diane Scavuzzo: When did you join the club?
Travis Nicklaw: I joined Albion PROS in January, 2017.
Diane Scavuzzo: What do you like best about your team?
Travis Nicklaw: What I like most about Albion PROS is the professionalism they display as a club. They have built a great atmosphere for soccer and brought a lot of community involvement to the sport.
Diane Scavuzzo: How long have you played in the NPSL?
Travis Nicklaw: This is my first season with Albion PROS as well as playing in the NPSL. I’m enjoying every moment being a part of this team and league.
Diane Scavuzzo: What do you like most about playing forward?
Travis Nicklaw: What I like most about my position is scoring goals and creating opportunities to assist my teammates.
Diane Scavuzzo: When did you first start playing soccer?
Travis Nicklaw: I’ve been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. Being the youngest child with three older brothers who all played soccer made it inevitable for me to play starting at a young age.
Diane Scavuzzo: What team did you first play for?
Travis Nicklaw: My first club I played with was Nomads SC here in San Diego. I also played with Notts Forest FC.
Diane Scavuzzo: Did you play collegiate soccer?
Travis Nicklaw: I got recruited to play college soccer at San Diego State University under Lev Kirshner and Matt Hall.
Diane Scavuzzo: What does it take to be an impact player?
Travis Nicklaw: Coach Ziggy Korytoski emphasizes everyone on the team doing their job and knowing what their responsibilities are as well as doing them to our best ability. I think that is what makes an impact player, doing what you need to do for the team.
Diane Scavuzzo: Please tell us about your coach — what is he like to play for?
Travis Nicklaw: Ziggy is a great head coach along with assistant coaches Andre Schmid — and of course Martin Johnson and Marc Riley.
Ziggy is awesome to play for, he has taught me how to become a better player.
Diane Scavuzzo: What inspires you?
Travis Nicklaw: My older brother Shawn plays a big part in what inspires me. Watching him play professional soccer in the NASL motivates me to play at that level one day.
Diane Scavuzzo: What are your goals as a player?
Travis Nicklaw: My goals include playing overseas in Europe or in MLS.
Diane Scavuzzo: If you could pick any super power, what would it be and why?
Travis Nicklaw: One super power I would choose is being able to fly because it would save me time getting around.
Diane Scavuzzo: Who is your favorite soccer team or player?
Travis Nicklaw: My favorite team is Arsenal because Thierry Henry was my favorite soccer player when he played.
