U.S. Soccer Chief Medical Officer Dr. George Chiampas Part of Panel
Soccer News: U.S. Soccer will host a panel at the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America conference on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 11:30 a.m. ET to discuss Recognize to Recover, a comprehensive player safety program designed to promote player safety and reduce injury.
The panel discussion will take place at Room CC 314-15.
U.S. Soccer’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. George Chiampas will lead the panel and will be joined by Dr. Margot Putukian, U.S. Soccer Medical Advisory Board and Director of Athletic Medicine, Princeton University; Dr. Ruben Echemendia, U.S. Soccer and MLS Neuropsychologist; and Erica Walsh, Penn State University Women’s Head Soccer Coach.
The panel will discuss health and safety protocols, guidelines and new rule changes regarding concussions implemented by U.S. Soccer late last year, all aimed at reducing injuries for soccer players of all ages and promote safe play by those on and around the field.
Recognize to Recover was developed with the help of medical experts and provides coaches, players, parents and referees with information, guidance and educational materials to improve the management of injuries, including – but not limited to – concussions, heat illness and cardiac arrest.
