Schedule and Staff Set for Futsal National I.D. Camp
The largest youth futsal player identification event in history to take place July 8-12 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Soccer News: U.S. Youth Futsal has announced the schedule and coaching staff for its 2015 National I.D. Camp, which will take place from July 8-12 in New Century and Overland Park, Kansas.
The event brings together the top players born between 1997-2004 from seven U.S. Youth Futsal regions, which each hosted a Regional I.D. Camp within the past year.
Led by U.S. Youth Futsal Technical Director Keith Tozer, players will participate in five training sessions and eight games during the five-day camp. More than 430 players from 25 states will be guided by 27 coaches from 15 states. California sends 68 players, while Kansas (47), Texas (41) and Massachusetts (28) are also highly represented.
“To have more than 400 players from so many states I couldn’t be more excited and more proud of what this program has done through U.S. Youth Futsal,” said Tozer, head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Futsal Team. “It is truly remarkable and exciting.”
Tozer heads the coaching staff along with Director of Goalkeeping Mark Litton.
Boys directors at the event are Southwest Regional Director Sean Bowers, Director of Futsal I.D. Soorena Farboodmanesh, U.S. Youth Futsal Executive Director Jon Parry and Southeast Regional Director Paul Roderique. The boys camp will take place at the New Century Field House in New Century, Kansas.
The girls staff is helmed by Northeast Regional Director Jason Miller, Lakes Regional Director Otto Orf and veteran futsal coach and administrator Ty Stauffer.
“The quality of the coaching and methodology is outstanding,” Tozer said. “And it shows in the ability of the players to understand and apply the offensive and defensive tactics and systems.”
The best players in the country will be selected to compete internationally, with the U18, U16 and U14 boys and girls are slated to travel to Costa Rica at the end of July, while the U12 boys and girls are expected to visit Canada later in the year.
“More than 400 players will vie for just a small number of spots,” said Farboodmanesh, the program’s director. “This will be the largest, highest level, most competitive and probably most fun youth futsal training camp in history. We will be preparing players to compete for their country in the near and long-term future.”
