Xolos U17 Side Extends Winning Streak
The Tijuana Xolos finished the 2016 Apertura campaign undefeated at home following a 2-1 victory over Tigres on Friday. The young Xolos side have clinched a spot in the postseason as the regular season comes to an end.
Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles U17 concluded the regular season home schedule undefeated in the 2016 Apertura of the LIGA MX.
Coach Gilberto Mora’s side finished 8-0 at home with a 2-1 win against Tigres UANL Friday in a Week 16 match at Estadio Caliente. The Xoloitzcuintles came from behind with goals by Daniel Lopez (44th minute) and Antonio Nava (57th) leading the way.
Tigres claimed the lead with a Manuel Villanueva goal in the 27th minute. He sent in his tally off a rebounded ball in the penalty area.
The Xoloitzcuintles fought back with Lopez’ goal, tying the match just before the break. Nava then put the Xolos on top from near the penalty spot with a powerful strike. The win gave Tijuana three points and moved the club to the top of the standings.
The Xolos have already clinched a spot in the playoffs as the regular season comes to a close.
