UC Davis Athletics: Men’s Soccer 2015 Schedule Announced
Soccer News: Four NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago and nine regular season home matches highlight the 2015 schedule for the UC Davis men’s soccer team, Head Coach Dwayne Shaffer announced.
Three of the four tournament teams reached the quarterfinals as the Aggies will face Washington on Aug. 30 in Seattle before taking on California on Sept. 11 in Berkeley, Calif. Big West Conference rival UC Irvine, which fell to eventual semifinalist Providence, visits Davis on Oct. 10, while NCAA tournament qualifier and Big West tournament champion Cal State Fullerton hosts UC Davis on Oct. 3 in Orange County.
The Aggies open with an exhibition at home against Chico State on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Field. Following a two-match road trip featuring matches against Seattle and the Huskies, UC Davis will spend Labor Day weekend at home, hosting CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 4) and Wisconsin (Sept. 6).
Road contests against the Golden Bears and San Jose State on Sept. 11 and 16 follow before the Aggies welcome rejuvenated Pacific to Davis on Sept. 30. The revived Tigers are in their second season since the program was dropped in 1985. West Coast Conference foes Saint Mary’s (Sept. 24) and San Francisco (Sept. 27) round out the non-conference schedule before UC Davis heads to Southern California to take on UC Riverside (Oct. 1) and the Titans to kick-off Big West play.
The Aggies will host CSUN (Oct. 8), the Anteaters, Cal Poly (Oct. 14), and Sacramento State (Oct. 17), as part of a season-long four-match home stand, before embarking on their longest road trip of the year, playing matches at UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 21), the Hornets (Oct. 24), and the Mustangs (Oct. 28) in late October.
UC Davis closes out the regular season at home with a “Senior Day” contest against the Gauchos on Halloween.
This year’s Big West Tournament kicks off with the first round on Nov. 7 at the home of the higher seeds and concludes with the championship match on Nov. 14. The NCAA Tournament opens with the first round on Nov. 19, concluding with the championship match on Dec. 13 in Kansas City, Mo.
