L.A. Wolves Hit Thirteen Game Unbeaten Streak
L.A. Wolves are hitting the Pro Soccer Club scene in Torrance, CA and making a difference. A member of the up and coming UPSL (United Premier Soccer League) and compete in the Western Division, the L.A. Wolves FC field a First team and two Reserve sides. And, are enjoying a really cool unbeaten streak.
The L.A. Wolves FC (10-3-1) scored a 1-0 victory over La Maquina FC(14-1-0) from UPSL Southeast Conference as the two UPSL clubs meet Saturday night in a friendly in what could turn out to be a playoff preview match. The win also extended the Wolves undefeated streak to now thirteen games.
The first half started off with a feel out period by both squads as prior to the match both the L.A. Wolves and La Maquina FC had both held first and second place positions in their respective UPSL conferences. The Wolves played in a patient defensive mode knowing La Maqunia was capable of holding the ball well and thus counter attack opportunities were inevitable for the Wolves if they could catch La Maquina FC off guard. In the 24’ minute that’s exactly what happened as the Wolves countered as Columbian Forward Luis Trujillo ended up with the ball after a series of quick passes and found the right side of the net on a one on one break beating the offside trap and giving the Wolves the 1-0.
Wolves Goalkeeper Kifi Cabrera, who started his first match of the season did well to keep La Maquina FC off the board and visa versa as the Wolves missed several key goal scoring chances to put the game away. At the end, the Wolves held for a 1-0 win beating a previously undefeated La Maquina FC.
Yan Skwara Head Coach of the L.A Wolves FC said, “Tonight’s match was good for both sides as we have never played each other in league play being in separate conferences. The style of play for teams was a bit different so it made for an interesting night. I would say that we have played better games technically but what won the game tonight for us was good man to man marking and good plays at the right time. Luis had a nice goal by finishing his chance. We know this was a friendly and La Maquina FC is a excellent squad and come playoff time they will be a different club then we saw tonight and we must continue to prepare for the toughest competition if we are going to make a run come playoff time.
