East & West Conference Champions Will Compete for First-Ever UWS Title
Soccer News: United Women’s Soccer (UWS) announced the full schedule for their inaugural season as a new national pro-am league. The winners of the East and West Conferences will compete for the first-ever UWS National Championship the weekend of July 30-31, with the West champion slated to host.
The first UWS game in league history will take place on Saturday, May 14th as the Long Island Rough Riders host New Jersey Copa F.C. at Saint Anthony’s High School in a East Conference match-up (5:00 PM kickoff). The first UWS West Conference game will occur on Saturday, May 21st, as the Houston Aces host the Santa Clarita Blue Heat at Houston Sports Park (7:00 PM kickoff).
“The Long Island Rough Riders are thrilled to be part of the inaugural game of UWS,” said Rough Riders General Manager Flavio Ferri. “Our club has always strived to be at the forefront of the advancement of women’s soccer and we are proud to be a part of this historic UWS season.”
“Obviously, I’m tremendously happy and excited to be part of the inaugural game for the UWS West Conference,” said Blue Heat owner Carlos Marroquin. “We all want to make this the best pro-am women’s soccer league in the USA. Our team will bring the quality necessary to be sure we can fight for both a conference and national title.”
