UPSL Soccer Comes to Long Beach, CA with the Addition of LA Salsa SC
LA Salsa SC has joined the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) for the 2015/16 Season. The LA Salsa SC will participate in the UPSL’s Western Conference. The Los Angeles Salsa has a rich soccer history going back to 1993 as the LA Salsa was an American Professional Soccer League franchise back in 1993. The club played on the campus of California State University, Fullerton at Titan Stadium in Orange County, CA, LA Salsa will now train and play out of Long Beach, CA.
The UPSL now currently consists of three conferences spanning across Southern and Central California, which includes Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, Santa Clarita Valley, Kern County and the Inland Empire.
“We want to expand our opportunity for our players and we know that the UPSL will be a perfect fit for us,” said Fernando Gonzalez, Club Director of LA Salsa SC. “A high level of local teams play in the UPSL so it will test our players and give them the opportunity to showcase their skills. With that being said, we are excited to be a member of the UPSL and look forward to many exciting matches and cup tournaments with some of the other great UPSL teams.”
“We are excited to announce that the LA Salsa SC have joined the UPSL as a new member of the Western Conference for the 2015/15 season,” said Yan Skwara, UPSL Commissioner. “The LA Salsa have a rich soccer history in the city of Los Angeles and will only create stronger and better completion for our league. The Salsa is owned and operated by a quality management team that knows where it wants to go thus we look forward to big things from the Salsa both on and off the field.”
The UPSL also expect to add another 20 teams throughout the LA and the Southern California market and have a stadium plan to create centralized league venues. These will be smaller venues in the range of 3000-5000 to accommodate their niche in the soccer marketplace.
