Futsal News: Futsal is a simply the best game for player development and has been played by the best players on the planet, including Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Playing Futsal helps sharpen skills with tons of touches on the ball and fast action — requiring pinpoint precision passing and quick thinking in tight spaces on the fast-paced court.
When a youth soccer player transitions back to the outdoor game, every action seems to be easier and confidence soars — but the best reason to play Futsal is that it is so much fun.

Tozer has been the longtime U.S. Futsal National Team Head Coach and the Commissioner of the PFL (Professional Futsal League), a FIFA and CONCACAF Futsal Instructor as well as the President of the Wisconsin Sports Group.
“Sean Bowers has been one of the top players and former captains of the U.S. National Team and gives so much of his expertise back to the game of futsal and to all the youth players,” says Tozer.

“Futsal is finally becoming more recognized in the USA as an important training tool for elite youth soccer players. Playing Futsal is a key part of the development of top youth soccer players as it incorporates the tactics and the soccer IQ needed for the outdoor game,” says Bowers.
“Numerous standouts from the San Diego area have made the cut and been selected to U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams,” says Mike Gentry, 619Futsal Coach. “Our 619Futsal players have been identified and selected to represent the USA in Canada, Costa Rica and Columbia.”

“The U.S. Youth Futsal National Team program has grown so much over the last few years and only continues to improve as more and more coaches and players are identified and developed,” says Tozer.
“Congratulations to all of the players participating in San Diego and wishing them all the very best during their trials,” says Tozer. “Looking forward to our USYF National I.D. Trials in Kansas City in July and to see and train 400 of the best players nationally!”
Tozer is dedicated to player development and is passionate about working with youth players to help them improve their game.
As players prepare for the regional or state ID camps, it is important to remain relaxed and play your game.
“Be creative, show your soccer IQ, love what you’re doing and have fun,” said Bowers. “Remember you have be both an offensive and defensive player.”
When asked about the difference in physicality between the outdoor game, Bowers highlights his first experience with the U.S. Futsal National Team and his reaction to the different aspects of the game.

“I was called up to the national team in 1996 for a trip to Brazil,” says Bowers. “I had never played or heard of futsal and when we got to Brazil and played our first game I was very perplexed why I was called up. I was 6’2” and 195 lbs. and just came off my first year in the MLS as a defender where fouling and being physical is part of the game.”
“Futsal, as I learned the hard way, is a completely different game and there was zero tolerance in being physical when competing in the game of futsal — for that alone I wondered why I was called up,” says Bowers.
“Futsal is about movement and being technical in small places and being physical, unlike outdoor soccer, is not part of the game.”
