Soccer News: The United States Men’s National Team is gearing up for its next 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier versus Panama tonight with kickoff scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PT.
The U.S. is coming off a dominating 6-0 win over Honduras last Friday night in San Jose, CA. The likes of Christian Pulisic, Darlington Nagbe and Clint Dempsey proved to be the difference makers as the Americans cruised to its first win in the final round of CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.
Sebastian Lletget opened the scoring for the United States after Nagbe chipped a sleek ball to a streaking Pulisic that blew past his defender into the penalty area. Pulisic’s finish was saved by Honduras goalkeeper Donis Escobar but Lletget came crashing in to tally the first goal of the night in the 5th minute.
Captain Michael Bradley was next to add his name to the scoresheet with a left footed strike from outside the box. Dempsey recorded a hat-trick on the night as he returns to international duty after being sidelined for the end of the 2016 MLS season. Pulisic recorded one goal and two assists during the American rout.
Although the United States has recorded their first points with convincing fashion, the importance of keeping their head down in order to get back on track is key. The Americans head to Estadio Rommel Fernandez as they face a Panama side that sits one point ahead of the U.S. in the third spot. The hosts are coming off a 1-0 loss versus Trinidad and Tobago.
