Soccer News: An Interview with Tobin Heath – US Women’s National Team Player Before the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup
US Women’s National Team player Tobin Heath choses GLUKOS Products as her recovery drink and explains why – this new drink has just launched at retail stores and online, Plus at Dick’s Sporting Goods and PGA TOUR Superstores. Twice the Energy, Twice as Fast is the slogan – sounds good and Heath says it tastes good too.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup silver medalist, Tobin Heath has just arrived in Canada with her U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team – and she says they are ready to go for the gold. Heath, who is the new supporter of GLUKOS, spoke to us before she left to play in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Diane Scavuzzo: How does it feel to be on the 2015 Women’s National Team? Are you ready for the World Cup? America’s youth soccer players and their families want to know.
Tobin Heath: Yes, we are all ready to play and excited. It is amazing, but you have to really love soccer in order to give up everything to focus on training and be the very best player you can be.
Diane Scavuzzo: How is the team feeling with the Women’s World Cup just around the corner?
Tobin Heath: We are very positive about Canada. We are feeling confident and well prepared Jill Ellis who has a great game plan.
Diane Scavuzzo: Do you love winning?
Tobin Heath: Winning is important, but it’s about the joy of soccer for me.
Diane Scavuzzo: America is on social media and showing support of your team – what do you think about all of this?
Tobin Heath: It is just wonderful. The support from fans has been great. Social media is a great way to connect with fans, share experiences and makes a big impact. I hope everyone joins in.
Diane Scavuzzo: In the U.S. Women’s National Team vs Mexico friendly before the 2015 Women’s World Cup, the final score was 5-1 — your assist in the 72nd minute to Abby Wambach, to score the 5th goal against Mexico was amazing! From the left edge of the box, you left your defender behind in the dust with a wicked cut and sent a cross to Abby at the back post. How did it feel? Was this something you practice?
Tobin Heath: It was a great moment. We practice that all the time — so it felt good to be able to execute it in a game. It was great having a chance to send the ball to Abby, who is phenomenal at executing.
Diane Scavuzzo: When did your passion for soccer start? How old were you when you first started playing?
Tobin Heath: I kicked a soccer ball for the first time when I was 4 years old and played at the YMCA. I still feel the passion and joy now, that I did then.
Diane Scavuzzo: Ok, so what is the scoop about GLUKOS? Does GLUKOS really make a difference for you?
Tobin Heath: Yes. I really feel the impact.
Diane Scavuzzo: How can you tell?
Tobin Heath: Athletes have very fine tuned bodies so that extra boost makes a difference. I am looking forward to sharing the products and getting my friends to know about it.
Diane Scavuzzo: What is your favorite GLUKOS product/flavor?
Tobin Heath: I drink a Fruit Punch GLUKOS Energy Gel pouch before games. And I like the bells – I pop them in my mouth. It tastes like a sweet tart.

Here is the info on this new drink — the Fuel For The Human Machine:
The GLUKOS Company Inc., a natural performance energy foods brand, announced the launch of its all-natural, performance energy products at retail and through e-commerce online. Providing twice the energy in half the time of leading energy products, GLUKOS is now available in hundreds of specialty retail stores, including DICK’S SPORTING GOODS, PGA TOUR Superstores and FLEET FEET SPORTS, among many others.
Founded by Mark Jensen, an Ironman competitor and former collegiate runner, GLUKOS is a more effective source of performance energy. Unlike fructose and sucrose-based energy products, which the body must first convert into glucose before using, GLUKOS is glucose based allowing it to immediately get into the bloodstream for fast, useful energy. Athletes using GLUKOS also avoid the increase in heart rate associated with caffeine-based energy drinks.
“GLUKOS is a game changer in the performance energy category and we’re thrilled to have so many respected specialty retail stores jumping on board,” said Mick McCormick, president and CEO, GLUKOS Company Inc. “Over the next several months GLUKOS will be available in several thousand specialty retail stores ensuring athletes and active people everywhere can benefit from this exciting alternative to what is currently on the market.”
Through extensive research and development, Jensen and GLUKOS found the optimum source of energy that was both healthy and effective for active consumers. GLUKOS is similar to an IV because it contains the same basic ingredients, including water, glucose and electrolytes such as potassium and sodium. Glucose, being the most important ingredient, is known as the “good” sugar because it is the only fuel the human body can use to produce natural energy, and is also the purest form of energy available. GLUKOS is devoid of many substances such as caffeine, which artificially increases the heart rate and causes dehydration; High Fructose Corn Syrup and Sucrose, the “bad” sugars, which create lactic acid and triglycerides in the muscles hindering performance and recovery; artificial sweetener, which provides no nutritional value.
GLUKOS will be widely distributed in sports specialty retail stores and online to reach consumers that want their body to perform at its optimum level. Product is available in six different delivery mechanisms, including ready-to drink, gel, powder, tablet, gummy and bar.
