U.S. Youth Futsal Selects Rosters For International Tour After National I.D. Trials
# usyouthfutsal #futsalid Representing the USA abroad — The best youth futsal players in the country were selected for U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams.
United States Youth Futsal (USYF) has announced the roster for its 2018 National Teams friendlies in Colombia following the successful I.D. Trials in Kansas City earlier this month. Every USYF International team will play three friendlies against top-rated Colombian youth futsal teams.
The USYF I.D. Trials brought together the top players born between 2000-2008 from across the country who have attended U.S. Youth Futsal State Identification Trials in seventeen cities throughout the past ten months. 520 players from 34 states competed to be selected for the USYF National Youth Futsal teams traveling abroad to compete.
“The 2018 USYF International Friendlies in Medellin, Colombia will be an amazing experience for these talented youth futsal players,” said Jon Parry, Executive Director and founder of USYF.
“At USYF, our goal is to develop players of exceptional ability. Every year, the USYF provides the opportunity for the best players to represent their country in international competition,” said Parry. ”
Over 500 kids came from all across the country to the National I.D. Trials which is a high-level competitive training camp which prepares players to compete representing the USA in the near and long-term future.”
Led by U.S Youth Futsal Technical Director and 20 years U.S. Mens Futsal National Team Head Coach Keith Tozer and Director of Goalkeeping Otto Orf, youth futsal players participated in the two training sessions.
Tozer and Orf, along with Futsal I.D. Director Soorena Farboodmanesh and Girls Administrator Jason Miller and Boys administrator Brian Catrine ran the USYF I.D. Trials.
They were assisted by an exceptional coaching staff that includes Men’s National Futsal Team Goalkeeping Coach Mark Litton, veteran youth national team coaches Craig “Hawk” Canavan, Jeff Lamy and Fabian Rodriguez and former Men’s National Futsal Team player Lee Tschantret.
“It was very exciting to be in Kansas City with the most outstanding young Futsal players in the country,” Tozer said. “The quality of the players has improved immensely through the many great U.S. Youth Futsal programs and it was exciting to see the talent on the court. We had 26 trained futsal coaches from 15 different states at the I.D. Trials, all evaluating players and selected the very best talent in our country.”
“I am really looking forward to coaching these players in Colombia,” said Tozer.
The USYF International teams leave the USA on July 23rd for a week of futsal competitions. Players will also be able to tour Colombia and will be enjoying several excursions as well.

“Hundreds of players competed for just a handful of roster spots on the U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams. We have established a high standard of excellence on the futsal court,” said Farboodmanesh, the program’s director. “In 2016, our teams took on youth teams from Piñas Club, Bello Florída, Bello Fontidueño, Bello Deptales and Selección Bello and performed very well. USYF teams won the majority of their friendlies —in fact, all but two matches — and it is great to go back and play futsal in a country that has a professional futsal league.
The USYF teams will stay in Medellín, Colombia which is often referred to as the City of Eternal Spring. The players will train and play in a professional Futsal stadium while in Colombia.
“Representing the USA when we play against the futsal teams in Colombia is not only a great honor but a responsibility to take pride in,” said Tozer.
“It is an amazing experience to play futsal in Colombia, representing the USA as one of the top youth futsal players in our country,” added Parry.
“It was truly a fantastic experience playing futsal in Colombia,” said Miller, who coached the U16 girls in 2016. “The Futsal and the cultural experience were incredible, and every player, parent and staff member on the trip created a lifetime of memories.”
The USYF trip to Cololmbia will include a day of training and a day of team-building adventure plus the players plan to observe the Colombian national team training.
